Mayfly Photobooks is an app (separate to the original Mayfly App) that enables you to create your own interactive photo books by embedding audio recordings into the pages.

Create pages that combine a sound recording, photo and caption, and build up pages to make a book. Each book is printed in the UK and shipped within a few days of ordering. As you leaf through your stunning books you can listen back to your sound recordings via the mayfly illustrations printed on each page. The scan function within the app recognises the mayflies and, as if by magic, plays back your audio recordings, allowing you to hear the voices you have recorded directly from the pages.

Mayfly Photobooks make great gifts! The interactive photo books can be used to tell the story of a specific project, chart an adventure abroad or preserve key moments in significant relationships. They’re a great solution for families who want to celebrate a special birthday or anniversary. They are an easy and stimulating way to record the memories of older relatives. Formally Tangible Memories

Mayfly Photobooks was developed as part of the Tangible Memories research project, exploring innovative ways to use technology with older people living in care settings. With thorough testing and lots of cups of tea, the app was built to be easy to use, so that people of all ages feel confident with it. In particular, residents with dementia and their carers found it useful to help reminisce, preserving their memories in mulit-sensory ways while stimulating them and their families with stories of their lives.

From 2013-2020 Mayfly Photobooks existed as the Tangible Memories app. It has now been updated and can be used on most Apple and Android devices made in the last few years. For a full list of comparable devices click here.
